The winner will take on the winner of the game between Amherst and Maine-Farmington at 3 p.m. Saturday. The two losing schools will play at 1 p.m.

Geneva, N.Y.--Sophomore Jordan Marcus (Solomon Schechter/West Orange, N.J.) tied a 40-year-old program record with 45 points to lead the men's basketball team to a 108-93 win over Hobart in the season-opener for both teams Monday night. Freshman Sean Rossi (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) picked up a double-double in his first career game with 16 points and 12 assists. He set a new Ithaca freshman record for assists.

ITHACA, N.Y.--The Bombers were selected to finish third of nine teams in the 2009-10 Empire 8 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll. With 47 points, the Bombers were tied with Nazareth and were nine points behind second-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology. Ithaca finished with the best record in the conference last season at 15-1, and qualified for the NCAA playoffs.

ITHACA, N.Y.--The Bombers are ranked 38th in the nation in the D3hoops.com preseason poll, and are the highest-ranked squad in the Empire 8 as well as the second-highest rank team in New York. Ithaca went 24-3 in 2008-09, setting a program record for wins. With a 15-1 conference record, the Bombers were regular-season champions in the Empire 8. The team advanced to the NCAA Championship Tournament for the first time since 2002. Ithaca opens the 2009-10 season Nov. 16 at Hobart.
