ITHACA, N.Y. -- Bomber women's soccer coach Mindy Quigg has been named the 2009 winner of the Ithaca Journal's Kenny Van Sickle Award as Female Coach of the Year. Quigg, who also won the award in 1998 and 2007, was also named Coach of the Year by the Empire 8. The Bombers finished 16-5-2 and reached the quarterfinal round of the NCAA playoffs for the third year in a row. Ithaca won the Empire 8 regular-season and postseason tournament titles and made the program’s 20th trip to the NCAA playoffs (no school has made more).

ITHACA, N.Y. –Senior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) of the Ithaca College women’s soccer team has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America team. Scheffer, a two-time all-American, was a second-team selection this year after earning third-team honors as a junior.

No team had more players selected to the all-region team. Senior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) and junior back Andrea Janda (Sterling/West Boylston, Mass.) earned first-team honors, freshman forward Rachael Palladino (Groton/Lansing), was a second-team pick and forward Lauren Koppel (Southside/Rockville Center), a graduate student, was named to the third team.

ITHACA, N.Y. – Four members of the Ithaca College women’s soccer team have been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate NY All-Star Team, including senior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) and freshman forward Rachael Palladino (Groton/Lansing), who were picked as ECAC Upstate NY Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year, respectively. Palladino and Scheffer were joined on the first team by junior back Andrea Janda (Sterling/West Boylston, Mass.) and forward Lauren Koppel (Southside/Rockville Center), a graduate student. Ithaca’s four all-stars were the most of any school.

Williamstown, Mass. - The #23 College of New Jersey scored a goal in the second half in a 1-0 victory over the Ithaca women's soccer team (16-5-2) in an NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Sectional Final. It is Ithaca's third consecutive trip to the national quarterfinals.
