Women's Basketball Falls to Oneonta

Oneonta, N.Y.--Ithaca (4-4) fell to Oneonta (7-2) 60-48 in women's basketball action Wednesday evening. The Red Dragons' win was just the fifth time they defeated the Bombers in 34 games.

Junior Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) led Ithaca with 13 points. Senior forward Tracy Bradley (Lewiston/Brusnwick, Maine) added nine points and led all players with eight rebounds. Junior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed nine points and five assists.

The Red Dragons, who entered the second half up 34-26, were up by as many as 12 points before an 8-2 Ithaca run cut the lead to 54-48 with just four minutes to play.. Freshman Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) and sophomore Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.).

Oneonta, however, kept Ithaca off the board for the remainder of the game and scored the contest's final six points.

Ithaca took the lead early in the game, with senior Megan Rumshik (Williamsville East/East Amherst) making a pair of baskets amid an 8-0 Ithaca run that put the team up 8-2. The Bombers held the lead until 4:40 to play, when Oneonta scored the first two points of a 12-4 run that closed the half.

The Bombers next play at St. Lawrence Saturday, their final contest of the calendar year.
