ITHACA -- The Ithaca women's basketball team (4-3) won its season home opener with a 72-67 victory over William Smith (3-2) Tuesday night at Ben Light Gymnasium. The Bombers were led by Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) who scored 17 points. Three other Bombers were in double figures.

Brown scored 15 of her team-high 17 points in the second half. A William Smith layup cut the Ithaca lead to 58-55 with under five minutes to play, but Brown connected on consecutive three-pointers in back-to-back possessions to give the Bombers a nine-point lead at 64-55.

William Smith used a 10-2 run in the final 3:38 to cut the Bomber lead to just one point. The Herons failed to convert on a late possession with :38 seconds remaining and were forced to foul. Bixby connected on both free-throw attempts to increase the Bomber lead to 70-67 with 8.8 seconds to play. A last-ditch three-point shot in the closing seconds from William Smith was off the mark and Ithaca grabbed the rebound.

Senior forward Tracy Bradley (Lewiston/Brunswick, Maine) scored 13 points and added five rebounds. Sophomore forward Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.) netted eight points and collected seven rebounds. Junior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) also reached double figures in scoring (10) and recorded a team-high nine rebounds in the contest.

The Bombers will take on Oneonta for a non-conference road game Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.
