Oneonta, N.Y. -- The women's soccer team (10-2-0, 7-0-0 Empire 8), ranked eighth by the National Soccer Coaches Associaiton of America and 15th by D3soccer.com, beat Hartwick (4-7-0, 3-2-0 Empire 8) 1-0 Sunday.  With the win, the Bombers clinch the conference regular-season title and the right to host next month's Empire 8 Championship Tournament. Ithaca will face the fourth seed in one semifinal match of the four-team tournament either Friday, Nov. 6 or Saturday, Nov. 7. Times and dates of the tournament will be announced by the conference office after the entire field has been determined.

For the second day in a row, graduate student Lauren Koppel (Southside/Rockville Center) and senior Amy Schefffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) collaborated on the game's only goal, with Koppel converting a cross from Scheffer just six minutes again. The Bombers maintained their lead, helped by a defense that allowed just three Hawk shots (including none on goal).

Koppel's goal was the 15th of her two-year career.

The Bombers play at St. Lawrence Saturday at noon.
