Ithaca, N.Y.--The Bombers fell to Cornell (1-1) 81-54 in the team's season-opening game Sunday. Three players reached double figures in scoring for Ithaca, including sophomore Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) who had a game-high 15 points.
The other two were senior Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) and junior Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.), who chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Freshman forward Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) was Ithaca's leading rebounder with six in the game. Farley and junior Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall PArk, N.J.) each grabbed five rebounds.
After going down 25-7 to open the game, the Bombers pulled within seven at 27-20 on a Farley free throw. She made six of seven from the foul line on the day. The Big Red pulled away for good on a 10-2 run to close the first half.
Ithaca returns to action Wednesday at William Smith.
