Scheffer Name To Women's Soccer All-Academic Team

ITHACA, N.Y. –Senior Amy Scheffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) of the Ithaca College women’s soccer team has been named to the District I College Division All-Academic Team. Scheffer, a first-team choice as a midfielder, has advanced to the ballot for academic all-America honors.

Scheffer is the leading scorer (13 goals, three assists, 29 points) on a Bomber team that will host this weekend’s Empire 8 Championship Tournament after winning the league’s regular-season title with an 8-0-0 record. She earned first-team all-conference and all-region honors as a sophomore and junior; last fall Scheffer was named Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year and earned third-team all-America recognition. She scored 33 points last season, including a team-best nine assists and a school-record seven game-winning goals set a school record. Scheffer was named MVP of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament after collecting two goals and three assists in Ithaca’s two shutout wins. With 90 career points, she’s second on Ithaca’s all-time list and her 35 goals rank second on the program’s career list.

A total of 129 Ithaca athletes have earned academic all-district honors over the past 13 years, including six last year. The College Division All-Academic Team honors student-athletes from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA Division II schools in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
