ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior offensive tackle Jake Queener (Geneva/Geneva) and sophomore kicker Andrew Rogowski (Canisius/East Amherst) of the Ithaca College football team have been named to D3football.com's East Region All-Star Team. Rogowski earned second-team honors and Queener was a third-team pick. No Empire 8 school had more players named to the all-region team.
A two-time first-team Empire 8 all-star, Queener was the only repeat selection on offense to the all-Empire 8 first team. He started all 21 games of his Bomber career at right tackle after transferring to Ithaca from Division I-AA Maine.
Rogowski handled Ithaca’s place-kicking duties for the second year in a row and took over as the Bombers’ punter in the third game. He earned first-team all-conference honors as a kicker and second-team accolades as a punter. As a kicker, he made a school-record 12 field goals and converted 31 of his 33 extra-point attempts, finishing with 67 points (the third-highest single-season total ever by a Bomber kicker). Rogowski averaged 34.5 yards per punt, putting 10 of his 35 kicks inside the opponents’ 20-yard line. In Ithaca’s season-ending win over Cortland he became the first Ithaca punter to kick two 50-yard punts in the same game. He was named the Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week three times – more than any other player – earning the award after Ithaca’s wins over Widener, #14 Alfred and Cortland. His performance against Widener earned him a spot on D3football.com’s Team of the Week as well. Rogowski was named the team’s Outstanding Specialist after the Widener, Utica, St. John Fisher and Alfred games. After just two years, Rogowski ranks third all-time at Ithaca with 17 field goals and fourth with 81 career extra points. Rogowski’s 81.0 percent accuracy rate on field goals is the best ever by an Ithaca kicker with at least 10 attempts and only two Bomber kickers have higher PAT percentages than his 94.2 success rate. With 132 career points he ranks 15th all-time at Ithaca (fourth among kickers) and needs 11 points to move into the top 10.
The Bombers posted a record of 7-3, closing the season with wins over #14 Alfred and long-time rival Cortland. Their stretch of 39 straight winning seasons is the second-longest streak at any level of college football.
