Bombers Win Season Opener
Ithaca Men's Lacrosse- Nick Neuman
Nick Neuman won nine face offs and tied for the team lead with six ground balls in the win at Lycoming.

Williamsport, Pa. – The No. 7 Ithaca men’s lacrosse team (1-0) scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter and went on to a 13-7 win over Lycoming (0-1) in the season-opener for both teams. Ithaca has won all five meetings against the Warriors in series history.

Junior Nic Heckman (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) scored three goals for the Bombers and seniors Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/St. George Island, Fla.) and Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) each scored twice. The Bombers won 13 of 23 face offs in the game against one of the nation’s top draw specialists, led by junior Nick Neuman (Madison West/Madison, Wis.) who was 9-7 at the X on the afternoon.

Ithaca scored the first three goals of the game, and never trailed in the contest. A four-goal spurt in the third quarter stretched the Bomber lead from 5-3 to 9-3 and another four-goal run in the fourth quarter sealed the victory. Sophomore goalie David Gal (Loomis Chafee [Conn.]/Amherst, Mass.) made 10 saves in the victory.

Freshman attackman Devin Weinshank (Long Beach/Long Beach) and freshman midfielder Billy LaPerch (John Jay-Cross River/Katonah) scored their first collegiate goals in the victory.

The Bombers return to action Saturday at Scranton at 1 p.m.
