Cobleskill, N.Y. – The Ithaca women’s basketball team (19-9) defeated Potsdam (17-12) 69-64 Friday evening in the semifinals of the ECAC Upstate NY Championship Tournament at SUNY Cobleskill. The Bombers will play in Saturday’s 1 p.m. championship game against fourth-seeded St. John Fisher.
Senior forward Tracy Bradley (Lewiston/Brunswick, Maine) led the Bombers with 17 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Megan Rumschik (Williamsville East/East Amherst) added 13 points and sophomore forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) scored 10 for the Bombers.
Ithaca used a 13-2 run midway through the first half to take a 10-point lead and never trailed again. The lead shrunk to two points at halftime, but the Bombers stretched it back to a 13-point advantage on a 3-pointer by Rumschik with 8:20 left to play. The Bombers made 8-of-11 free-throw attempts in the final 1:10 to seal the victory.
Junior guard Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) set a career high with five assists and tied her career high with four steals. She also had eight points and four rebounds.
Ithaca is in search of its first ECAC Upstate title since 2000, and fourth in program history. The Bombers are now 7-3 all-time in ECAC tournament games.
