Marietta, Ohio--Sophomore Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) earned all-America honors in the 200- and 400-meter dashes Saturday at the final day of the NCAA Championships, hosted by Marietta. Freshman Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) was also in action, competing in the high jump.
McCord placed fifth in the 200, running 24.95. She is Ithaca's second all-American in the event, joining Amy Vanaskie, who did so in 1992. In the 400, McCord placed seventh at 56.55. Also an all-American in the event in 2008, she is the only runner in program history to earn the honor in the event.
McCord is the third women's track & field athlete to be a outdoor all-American three or more times. The other three are Vanaskie, Janette Bonrouhi and Cheryl Nethaway. In total, Ithaca has received 26 all-American honors outdoors, as well as 20 indoors.
Dewart cleared 1.59 meters to place 12th. She placed 10th in the heptathlon, which was contested Thursday and Friday.
