ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca swept the Empire 8's men's outdoor track & field awards, with senior Cory Petermann (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.) named Field Athlete of the Year, sophomore Jeff Wetmore (Maple Grove/Bemus Point) selected Track Athlete of the Year and freshman Doug Koury (Nashoba/Stow, N.H.) honored as Rookie of the Year. Ithaca's Jim Nichols was picked as Coach of the Year.

Petermann placed 11th in the javelin at the NCAA Championships after winning Empire 8, New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) titles in that event. He also won the Empire 8 discus title and the state decathlon crown. Petermann was named Field Event Athlete of the Meet at the Empire 8 Championships where the Bombers placed first for the second year in a row.

Wetmore, the Track Event Athlete of the Meet at the Empire 8 Championships, won the conference's 100-meter title. An NCAA qualifier in the 200-meter dash, he ran on Ithaca's state-champion 400-meter relay team as the Bombers won their second NYSCTC outdoor crown. He earned all-ECAC honors in three individual events.

Koury took third in the 400-meter dash at the Empire 8 Championships and ran on the runner-up 1,600-meter relay team. At the ECAC Championships he took seventh in the 400-meter dash to help the Bombers to their highest finish ever (third).

Nichols' Coach of the Year award follows his selection as NYSCTC Coach of the Year.
