ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Katie O’Driscoll (Quincy/Cohasset, Mass.) and sophomore Amy Gefell (Greece Arcadia/Rochester), of the Ithaca College women's crew have earned all-America honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). O’Driscoll was named to the first team and Gefell was a second-team selection. Ithaca was one of only five schools with more than one all-American.
O’Driscoll rowed in the sixth seat of Ithaca’s varsity 8 boat this spring with Gefell in the fifth seat. The pair helped the Bombers place fourth at last weekend’s NCAA Championships (Ithaca is the only school to participate in every NCAA Division III rowing championship). The varsity 8 won a gold medal at the New York State Championships as well and was ranked fourth nationally in every weekly poll.
O’Driscoll served as one of Ithaca’s two commodores this year. Gefell is the third Bomber sophomore to earn all-America honors.
The Bombers have had 21 all-Americans in the 10 years since the CRCA began selecting an all-America team.
