West Palm Beach, Fla.--The Bombers (1-1) outscored Mount Holyoke 9-3 in the first half on their way to a 14-6 win over the Lyons (3-3) Thursday afternoon. Junior Katie Hurley (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) scored four goals in the win, with senior Kylie McClure (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) and sophomore Nicole Borisenok (Albany Academy for Girls/Watervliet) each netting three.
The Bombers went down 2-1 in the first six minutes of play before taking control of the game with five unanswered goals in the span of ten minutes. Hurley scored three goals in the run, with Borisenok chipping in two. After a Lyons scored pulled the score to 7-3, goals from McClure and fellow senior Kassie Garfield (The Wheeler School/Cuttyhunk Island, Mass.) extended the lead to six entering halftime.
Mount Holyoke scored three of the first four goals of the second half to bring the score to 10-6 , but got no closer. Freshman goalkeeper Jess Worthman (Commack/Hauppauge) entered with 20:54 to play and kept the Lyons from scoring while picking up four saves. The Bombers netted four more goals in the game to put the contest out of reach.
Senior Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) made the start in goal and picked up the win. She made six saves.
With four goals and as assist, Hurley led all players with five points. McClure ranked second with four points. Sophomore Racquel Lividini (Mamroneck/Mamaroneck) tallied a goal and an assist off the bench.
Sophomore Abby Peterson (Mount Mansfield Union/Underhill, Vt.) picked up a game-high four ground balls. Senior Lauren Fitzgerald (William H. Hall/West Hartford, Conn.) recorded three.
Ithaca returns to action Monday at Buffalo State.
