Two More All-America Finishes For Bombers On Day Two

Minneapolis, Minn. - The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team earned two more all-America finishes during Thursday's events at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship meet. Ithaca's 400-yard medley relay of sophomore Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott), junior Becca Blazak (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, Pa.), freshman Carly Jones (Liverpool/Liverpool) and junior Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) finished sixth overall with a time of 3:52.34 in the finals, more than a second faster than the time they swam in the morning preliminaries (3:53.40). They earned all-America honors for finishing among the top eight.

Ithaca is 11th in the overall team standings after two days of competition.

Rhoades finished 11th overall in the 200-yard freestyle and earned all-America honors. Her time in the finals, 1:51.79, was just seven-hundredths slower than her qualifying time of 1:51.72, the second-fastest time in school history.

Other Ithaca competitors in Tuesday's preliminary session included senior diver Naomi Mark (Dansville/Dansville) and sophomore diver Jodi Costello (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.). Mark was 21st overall with a score of 333.50 and Costello was 22nd with a total of 308.25. Jones was 24th in the prelims of the 400-yard individual medley in 4:36.25.

Ithaca placed 22nd in the preliminaries of the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:39.22 by the team of freshman Madi Sherry (Orchard Park/Orchard Park), junior Becca Blazak (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, Pa.), Jones and Rhoades.
