Women's Lacrosse Team Beats Rensselaer 18-8

West Palm Beach, Fla. — The women's lacrosse team (1-1) closed out its spring trip with an 18-8 win over Rensselaer Friday.
Junior Becky Bedard (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow, Mass.) matched a career-high with four assists and moved into seventh on the program’s career list, raising her career total to 40. Bedard, who also scored her first goal of the season, had a hand in four of Ithaca’s first 10 goals as the Bombers jumped out to leads of 7-0 and 11-1 in the first half. Senior Meagan Howell (Newark/Newark) collected five points on three goals and a pair of assists. Sophomore Kylie McClure (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) and senior Sarah Knauf (Irondequoit/Rochester) both scored a career-high three goals and senior Kim Medla (Brewster/Brewster) added three goals to give her a team-best eight through two games. Medla raised her career totals to 131 points and 107 goals, good for 13th and ninth, respectively, on Ithaca’s all-time lists.
Freshman Rachel Maley (Newtown/Sandy Hook, Conn.) scored the first two goals of her career. Sophomore Kassie Garfield (The Wheeler School/Cuttyhunk Island, Mass.) and senior Emily Brooks (Ward Melville/Setauket) paced the Bomber defense. Garfield caused five turnovers and Brooks recorded four saves.
